A Day in Bangkok
Keywords: Bangkok, Wat Arun
Bangkok Palace Hotel
We arrived at Bangkok Don Muang airport on 3rd Nov 2018. I had booked Air Asia flight from Siem Reap. All Air Asia flights land at Don Muang airport. Since we already had our Visa's, we could avoid the long queue's for Visa on arrival. After immigration we booked a pre paid taxi to reach our hotel. It cost us about 850 Baht which i felt was very expensive. I purchased a local SIM for 200 Baht.
Bangkok Palace Hotel
Bangkok Palace Hotel offers accommodation in Pratunam district, close to Platinum Mall, BTS and Airport Link. The accommodation was good and the hotel had almost all possible amenities.
It had a restaurant as well. Since we arrived in the evening, we didn't go out and had dinner in the restaurant which was located within Bankok Palace Hotel.
The only setback with this voucher was that it did not include buffet breakfast.
Next Day, we started a bit early. First, we had South Indian style breakfast at Sarvana Bhavan.
We had Dosa, Idli and Uttapam. The food was quire delicious. Saravana Bhavan is located in almost all around South Asia.
Wat Arun
Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawaramahawihan or Wat Arun, is a Buddhist temple in Bangkok Yai district of Bangkok, Thailand, on the Thonburi west bank of the Chao Phraya River. The temple derives its name from the Hindu god Aruna, often personified as the radiations of the rising sun. Wat Arun is among the best known of Thailand's landmark. The temple has an entry fee of 50 Baht/ person.
Wat Pho
Wat Pho is located on the other side of Chao Phraya river. We took a ferry which cost only 5 Bhat/ person.
Wat Pho also spelled Wat Po, is a Buddhist temple complex in the Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok, Thailand. The temple is first on the list of six temples in Thailand classed as the highest grade of the first-class royal temples. It is associated with King Rama I who rebuilt the temple complex on an earlier temple site, and became his main temple where some of his ashes are enshrined. The temple was later expanded and extensively renovated by Rama III. The temple complex houses the largest collection of Buddha images in Thailand, including a 46 m long reclining Buddha. The temple is considered the earliest centre for public education in Thailand, and the marble illustrations and inscriptions placed in the temple for public instructions has been recognised by UNESCO in its Memory of the World Programme. The entry fee here is 200 Baht/ person.
Platinum Mall
Platinum Fashion Mall is like an indoor version of the Chatuchak Weekend Market. Platinum Fashion Mall location is smack in the centre of Pratunam, a 10-minute walk from either Ratchathewi or Chidlom BTS Skytrain.
Cruise Dinner at Chao Phraya River
I had booked this package through Viator. The voucher included hotel pick up and drop. The hotel pickup was at around 7:00 P. M. The cruise departure is from Rivercity. Depending on the time slot, a voucher will will be handed over with a pre allotted table. This is a must do in Bangkok if the stay is short. The total duration is 2 hours. Voucher includes unlimited buffet dinner. From the cruise you can witness some of the major landmarks located at the banks of Chao Phraya river.
Later, we were dropped back to our hotel. This was all we could do in a day in Bangkok. Next day, we had our flight to Krabi.
