I was searching for a hoysala temple near Nagalpura but ended up finding this temple in google map. This temple was actually not in my initial list but we decided to have a look.

Madhava Raya Temple built in 1270 A.D is a Trikootachala, three celled temple raised on a stellate parapet. The main cell houses a fine image of Adi-Madhava (one of the 24 forms of Maha Vishnu). The unique feature of the form is that the Lord holds Chakra in upper right hand and Shanka in the upper left. The lower right hand holds Gada and the lower left has Padma. To the left of Adi-Madhava we find Janardhana image and to the left we see Venu-gopala.



There is not much information about this temple in the internet. This temple was closed and we didn't see any priest also.

Finally, Our trip-2 came to an end and we headed towards Bangalore via Kunigal NH75.

Keywords: Hoysala Temples, Sangameshwara & Jangameshwara Temple, Sindhaghatta The temple is on the lines of Aghalaya (trikuta) and Govindanahalli (panchakuta), with two Shiva linga sanctums in a row inside the same temple. One of them is identified as Sangameshwara and the other as Jangameshwara (currently). The outer walls are again uncarved, similar to the Vaishnava temple in the town, but the inner carvings - primarily the Bhuvaneshwari designs on the roof tops. The exact timeframe when the temple was built is unclear, although, it is conservatively attributed to the period of Hoysala king Ballala the 3rd, in 1299 AD. There are conflicting gazetteer entries that date the temple back to 1179 AD too, and to the times of Vishnuvardhana and Veera Ballala II.
