An Evening in Paris, France
An Evening in Paris, France
Finally after a lot of drama that took place earlier, we reached Orly airport in Paris. We had some snacks at McDonald's and rushed to Ibis Hotel located at Massy. Massy was about 9 kms from Orly airport. We took a taxi which costed us around 50 Euros. Taxi's are expensive in Europe and it is always advisable to use public transport as much as possible. We reached Ibis Massy, quickly checked in and to our delight Mavis got her Uber app working.
We booked a cab to Eiffel tower and reached there by around 5:30 P. M. We got off from Taxi and started walking towards the tower. It was Saturday and as expected the place was terribly crowded. Suddenly we heard a sparkling noise and the tower lit up. It was a spectacular sight and we were all mesmerised by its beauty.
The Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower is a wrought iron lattice tower on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France. It is named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower. Constructed from 1887–89 as the entrance to the 1889 World's Fair, has become a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognisable structures in the world. The tower is 324 metres (1,063 ft) tall, about the same height as an 81-storey building, and the tallest structure in Paris.
Ibis hotels are perfect for budget stay. All the basic amenities are covered for a moderate price. Our rooms were very clean and the staff was extremely helpful.
Our plan was to visit the following places:
- The Eiffel Tower
- The Seine River Bank
- The Louvre
- Towers of Notre Dame Cathedral

We spent about half an hour clicking some photographs, uploading Facebook, Instagram status etc. and then headed towards Seine river bay.
Pont Alexandre and Pont Loius are some popular tourist spots around this location. Next, we booked an Uber cab to Louvre museum.
The Louvre
The Louvre or the Louvre Museum (French: Musée du Louvre, is the world's largest museum and a historic monument in Paris, France. A central landmark of the city, it is located on the Right Bank of the Seine. Approximately 38,000 objects from prehistory to the 21st century are exhibited over an area of 72,735 square metres (782,910 square feet). The Louvre is the world's most visited museum, receiving 7.4 million visitors in 2016. The museum is housed in the Louvre Palace, originally built as a fortress in the late 12th century under Philip II.
The museum was closed as it was late in the night. After spending some time at the square, we headed to Notre Dame Cathedral.
Notre Dame
Notre-Dame de Paris meaning "Our Lady of Paris", also known as Notre-Dame Cathedral or simply Notre-Dame, is a medieval Catholic cathedral on the Île de la Cité in the fourth arrondissement of Paris, France.
After spending about an hour at the site, we thought of having dinner. There are lot of streets located near the cathedral. The weekend nightlife was very lively and breath taking. We had dinner at a local eatery and had some good drinks as well.
Finally, at around 12:00 in the night, we headed back to our hotel through Uber. Uber is quite cheap but still it is way costlier than public transport. We had no choice, since we had only half a day in Paris. The Bollywood movie captioned "An evening in Paris" was a perfect synonym for out trip. Ideally speaking, minimum of 2 days is a must in Paris. This was a big miss in my planning because of a last minute flight reschedule. But still at the end of the trip, we were all happy and had lot of good memories and funny incidents to share back home.
